My daughter, Alice, says I am a Bohemian woman. I like the sound of it; the inference that I'm a bit flouncy, out-of-the-corporate box, a moveable feast in a skirt maybe.
I've lived in Mexico and China and have been officially on-the-road since I sold Falling Apple Ranchita, my colorful casita in Tehachapi, California in 2007.
My beloved Rottweiler, Sophie traveled with me, living the good life until I took her to Yelapa, Mexico where she was attacked by the yacht club owner's pit bull when we were walking on the beach. Sophie, 12 years old, never really recovered. I took her home to Tehachapi where she went to sleep, her head resting on my lap. I should be so lucky in death.
In 2010 I became a certified ESL/EFL teacher and now teach students around the world. 2010/2011 I taught IELTS and English to university students in Chongqing, China then went to Mongolia to ride horses on the steppes-a dream I've had for 56 years. Amazing.
This past year, I've been living in Hanahan, SC, with my daughter while she goes through a personal transition. Come July I'll head to Brazil.
More roads; more hills. More life to live. How lucky this Bohemian woman is.
